Danish Producers’ Union

The union of Danish producers of film, TV series and documentaries

The Danish Producers’ Union represents the interests of feature film, TV series and documentary producers employed in Denmark.

The Union works to improve members’ working conditions and compensation, and to strengthen the definition and recognition of the producer’s professional role within the Danish audiovisual industry.

Core values:

  • Producers create cohesion and generate both economic, creative, and public service value

  • Collaboration and dialogue benefit the entire industry

  • Sustainability – financially and resource-wise – is essential

The Danish Producers’ Union strives to be:

  • A reliable voice for producers in Denmark

  • An attractive professional network

  • Democratic and transparent

Why we exist

For many years, producers were the only professional group in the Danish film and TV industry working without organisation, shared standards or a collective framework for their professional role. The Danish Producers’ Union was founded to change that. We aim to give producers a stronger voice, clearer conditions and a more sustainable foundation to build a future.

How the Union supports producers

We represent and protect producers throughout their working lives — during contract negotiations, employment disputes, illness, dismissal or other conflicts. At the same time, we focus on strengthening professional expertise through networks, knowledge-sharing and specialised training. We are committed to helping define the producer’s role more clearly and supporting the development of both education and continuing training.

Vision

Our core ambition is to create fair, transparent and regulated working conditions. That includes improving employment terms, establishing clearer expectations, and distributing knowledge about producers’ roles, responsibilities and working environments. We work to highlight the creative and economic value producers bring to every production and to ensure this contribution is recognised across the state-funded and commercial industry.

We believe that collaboration, transparency and sustainability are essential for a healthy industry. We wish to nurture dialogue with industry partners, political stakeholders and international networks. Our goal is to secure a collective agreement that ensures regulated and fair rights and employment conditions for all producers in Denmark — and to contribute positively to the future of Danish film and television.

We will:

  • Raise awareness of the producer’s contribution through public information and debate

  • Safeguard the role and rights of producers in a rapidly changing industry

  • Maintain dialogue with industry stakeholders and political decision-makers

  • Participate in international networks and exchange knowledge with colleagues abroad

  • Negotiate and establish a collective agreement and standard contracts for both members and non-members
